Newborn photography in London
I was so pleased to be commissioned back in February to photograph Sultana’s gorgeous new baby daughter Sophia. Just over two weeks old when I met her, Sophia was just a delight. I was with them for about an hour, and during the whole time it was amazing how alert Sophia was, gazing intently into Mum’s eyes and very happy to have her picture taken.
Tender moments
I love the tenderness in these pictures. The light was softened by the net curtains in Sultana’s flat, creating a lovely backdrop for some gently posed but natural images. Many people - Mums and Dads alike - can be nervous about having their picture taken. The key thing for me is to make sure everyone is relaxed - taking our time, chatting and capturing little moments as they unfold.
The little details
It’s always important to get detail shots and I love these images of Sophia’s tiny feet. I confess these were not easy to take as she was definitely in wriggle mode, but we got there eventually! I love the way the light and shadow create dreamlike patterns in these pictures - even when we are indoors there are always creative ways to use the available light.
Fun moments too…
I always keep my pictures natural and uncontrived, but I couldn’t resist taking this picture with Sophia’s teddy bear as she started to settle down for her nap. I hope that when she grows up Sophia will enjoy looking at these images. They are precious memories, and a lovely way for Sultana to share her joy with family and friends.
